Heartbreaking tributes to young mum and pal who died in Canterbury car smash

Young mum Lucy Leadbeater, 27, and Casey Hood, 18, were killed in the crash that happened around 3.48am on Friday

TRIBUTES have been paid to a young mum who had her life support switched off following a fatal car crash in Kent.

Lucy Leadbeater, 27, has been named as the second victim of the crash where 18-year-old Casey Hood died at the scene.

The crash happened in Nethersole Road, near Canterbury in Kent, at around 3.48am on Friday.

Two men were said to be in a stable condition in hospital following the crash.

Amanda Aubrey-Killen posted publicly on Facebook: "At 3.36pm on Saturday, Lucy's parents made the decision to have the life support machine turned off.

"It is with deepest sympathy that there was nothing more the doctors could do.

"Lucy's parents and her son needed time to process this. As you may know Lucy was involved in a car accident early hours of Friday morning.

"Her family and Logan's family are all supporting each other. She will be sadly missed. We will never forget you Lucy."

Insurance consultant Miss Leadbeater, mum to Logan, was described in tributes as a "lifelong friend" and "beautiful soul."

Carly Allan wrote: "A lifelong friend who will be sadly missed and never forgotten."

Tanya Armstrong wrote: "Such sad news. My love and thoughts go to the most amazing little boy Logan who has always had a special place in my heart."

The young mum's friend Miss Hood, who studied at the Canterbury Academy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her friends have paid tribute to the 18-year-old, calling her the "the life and soul of any party" and "a beautiful girl".

Floral tributes and handwritten messages have been left at the scene of the crash.

Connor Fisher wrote on Facebook: "She played a special part in so many lives and I am grateful I made some top memories with her that I will cherish for the rest of my life."

Hannah Kelly said: "A mixed feeling of disbelief and shock right now. Just like everyone else absolutely devastated. Taken far too young. Too well loved to ever be forgotten, sleep tight beautiful."

Ashley Mills said: "A beautiful girl taken way too soon. RIP Casey Hood, was only last weekend we were getting our dance on, absolutely gutted. You will be so so missed, sleep tight you beautiful angel."

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "At 3.48am on Friday, officers were on patrol when their attention was drawn to a Toyota Yaris parked on the A2 slip road towards Adisham Road.

"The vehicle left the scene and the officers subsequently attended Nethersole Road where they found the car had been involved in a collision.

"South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene along with the air ambulance.

"An 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene while a second woman was taken to a London hospital in a critical condition.

"Two men were also taken to a local hospital in a stable condition."
