But he is now being investigated by the force’s professional standards team following the allegations.

Sources say the investigating team are looking at emails and messages between Quinn and female colleagues.

Detective Supt Quinn is one of the force’s most senior officers and reports to Assistant Chief Constable Richard Moore.

During his career at Warwickshire Police he oversaw the high profile murder investigation of a policeman mown down by a car while on duty.

He was also present at an awards ceremony in 2017 which recognised junior officers, civilian staff and the public who ‘go the extra mile’.

'SUPERVISED INVESTIGATION'

Assistant Chief Constable for Warwickshire Police, Alex Franklin-Smith, said: “As a result of information received by the force, relating to the conduct of a Warwickshire police officer towards other colleagues, an investigation has commenced by the force’s Professional Standards Department.

“This has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct and is currently a supervised investigation.

“The force absolutely supports an open and transparent process and, if proven, does not tolerate any conduct or behaviour which fails to meet our high standards.

“We will await the outcome of this investigation and it would therefore be inappropriate to comment further on this matter at this time.”

Quinn is a senior detective but part of his job portfolio is to manage safeguarding for ‘local policing’ in the county.

On their website Warwickshire Police state: “The term ‘safeguarding’ covers a range of activities which are aimed at supporting adults to exercise their basic right to live a life free from the fear or reality of abuse, regardless of where they live or the situation they are in.”
