JOY OF BREX

Brexit Party continues to take voters from Labour and Tories and Lib Dems surge into second place

THE Brexit Party is continuing to siphon votes from Labour and the Tories, according to a new poll.

Nigel Farage's fledgling party has left the major parties floundering as it picked up more than a quarter of voters, new YouGov analysis for the Times has suggested.

According to the survey, the Brexit Party attracted 26 per cent of the vote, followed by the Lib Dems at 22 per cent.

Labour then followed at 19 per cent - falling from 20 per cent - while the Tories scraped in with 17 per cent, down from 18 per cent.

And cementing the Brexit Party's popularity, the website Electoral Calculus has suggested they would win almost 250 seats if a General Election was held tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Tories are predicted to take just 54 seats, below Labour's 216 and just a little over the Lib Dem's 51.

It comes after Mr Farage hailed another "historic" new poll that put the Brexit Party on top for a general election.

The poll, leased by Opinium, shows the two main parties floundering as voters abandon them for failing to get us out of the EU.

Mr Farage said: "Historic moment as the Brexit Party takes the lead in a national poll."

Despite being only set up two months ago, Mr Farage's party stormed the European elections earlier this month.

The party picked up 29 of the UK’s 73 seats with Labour reduced to ten and the Tories down to four MEPs.

RACE TO NO10

Boris Johnson has come storming ahead in the Tory leadership race.

It comes as senior ministers are said to have proposed putting forward Bo-Jo's name as the sole candidate for the role of Prime Minister, with fears six weeks of Tory ministers criticising each other would damage the party.

The Daily Telegraph reported senior party members held concerns that constant "blue on blue" attacks would provide ammunition for Jeremy Corbyn.

But PM hopefuls Sajid Javid, Rory Stewart and Jeremy Hunt have all come out swinging against the rumoured proposals.

It comes after Brussels warned Britain would not leave the EU this year - even with a No Deal.

While PM-frontrunner Boris Johnson has vowed Britain will pull out on October 31, Eurocrats are convinced he will backtrack.

Instead, they believe EU leaders will sign off a short extension - meaning a "controlled No Deal" could last into 2020, the Daily Mail reported.
