England fans sing ‘f*** VAR’ after late Callum Wilson goal ruled out against Switzerland
ENGLAND fans in Guimaraes chanted "f*** VAR" after being denied a late Nations League winner for the second time in four days.
Substitute Callum Wilson appeared to have won the third-place play-off game against Switzerland after tapping in from close range.
But the video referee was notified to a foul in the lead up to the goal, which he assessed before ruling the goal out.
Bournemouth forward Wilson had scored from close range after Dele Alli's header had rebounded back off the crossbar.
Striker Wilson celebrated wildly with his Three Lions team-mates as they felt relief following Thursday's semi-final defeat to Holland.
NOT AGAIN
Yet, VAR quickly cracked into action with the referee being advised to view footage at pitch-side.
While the move appeared to have been incident-free, video replays showed Wilson pull down one of the Swiss defenders in the lead up to the goal.
The ref took one look and immediately reversed the decision, seeing the goal chalked off and England heading into extra-time.
