Will Ferrell at Portsmouth vs Tranmere after being invited to join club chief Breck Eisner in directors’ box
WILL FERRELL had an "Elfie" taken with Portsmouth's celebrating players after he watched an Anchorman shine on the Hollywood legend's visit to Fratton Park.
Movie star Ferrell accepted an invitation from Pompey's owner - former Disney supremo Michael Eisner - to see today's League One clash with Tranmere.
Elf actor Ferrell looked on from the directors' box with pal Breck Eisner as Ben Close and defensive midfielder Tom Naylor sealed Pompey's first win of the season.
Portsmouth then tweeted a photo of Ferrell centre stage in a grinning dressing-room, along with the caption "Stay Classy" - a catchphrase of the comedian's Anchorman character.
Ex-Watford star Kenny Jackett has been the Megamind behind Pompey's push to return to the Championship, including an agonising defeat against Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals last term.
And perhaps Portsmouth have been inspired by another Old School club Sheffield United rising back to the top.
The Blades of Glory launched their first season back in the top flight today by snatching a late draw at Bournemouth.
And along the south coast Ferrell watched Portsmouth strike in each half to beat promoted Rovers 2-0.
Next to Ferrell were the main men behind club backers Tornante, the investment company owned by Michael Eisner.
Pompey directors Breck and Eric Eisner, plus Andy Redman, were with main man Michael amid a crowd of 18,575.

Portsmouth's dressing-room snap of Ferrell then sparked a torrent of memes on social media.
But one fan urged club chiefs: "Nice win today. Tell Will it’s Football not soccer ⚽️😜😂".
Other comments included: "Love it, hope to see him back at Fratton again soon" and "This is like your Christmas, birthday and everything together right."
