STIRLING Gallacher has confirmed she's returning to Coronation Street as Paula Martin.

The actress - who hasn't been seen on screens since Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) was released from prison in January - posted a short clip of herself and fellow Corrie star Brooke Vincent on Twitter, hinting that their characters will reunite on screen.

Stirling's character played the love interest to Brooke's character Sophie Webster.

Gallacher wrote on Twitter: "I have had the absolute and total pleasure of goofing about with this dreamboat all day".

And soap fans seemed thrilled at the prospect of Stirling returning.

One wrote: "Love the longer hair Stirling! You're both gorgeous. Can't wait for more Saula."

Another said: "O wow you two are a match made in soap land and are a absolute pleasure too watch."

Stirling has previously discussed her character's romantic storyline with Sophie.

She said: "Paula is aware of Sophie immediately. She is fascinated by her and she catches her eye.

"From Paula's point of view, she's aware that Sophie's aware and there's a nice little flirtation where they're both toying with the idea of being involved with each other."

She also discussed Paula and Sophie's future as a couple.

She said: "That's the fascinating thing – I would very much enjoy seeing how that could work because the age gap obviously is at least 20 years.

"But I think if they could both embrace each other's choices and age, there's lots of avenues for them to overcome if they properly love each other."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
