LOVE island narrator Iain Stirling has revealed the winter series will be hitting screens "sooner than you thought", while confirming he will be returning for it.

The loveable Scottish comedian, 31, dropped the exciting news during an interview with Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold live from the villa earlier today.

He said of the upcoming winter series: "Do you know what, it's gonna be an absolute blast.

"Winter Love Island is gonna come back sooner than you thought and it's gonna be enjoyable."

Last week  ITV confirmed that they would be adding a second annual edition of the runaway hit during the winter months, which will film in South Africa, after The Sun exclusively broke the story.

The channel cited "another record breaking year" as the reason behind the bumper commission, adding that Love Island is the "perfect format that engages younger audiences."

It was initially believed that the series will air in January to fill the gap left by Celebrity Big Brother, but Iain's revelation today suggests it may start before Christmas.

While Caroline Flack has already been confirmed as the host of the winter edition and had reportedly landed a £1.2 million paydeal with ITV, it wasn't officially known whether Iain would be back on board until his announcement this morning.

The news will come as a relief to the show's legions of fans who enjoy Iain's witty commentary on the villa action as much as what actually happens on screen.

Tweeted one fan recently: "For me @IainDoesJokes Love Island narrator is the true legend in the villa! Fully lad, his commentary makes the whole show."

Iain has been the voice of Love Island since it was rebooted by ITV2 in 2015.

He is also a successful comedian and writer, and his 2018 tour 'U OK HUN? x.' was a sell-out.

He will be going back on the road in 2020 with another tour, Failing Upwards.

Iain is also a regular on TV panel shows such as Taskmaster and Drunk History.

His love life is equally successful these days.

Iain has been dating Irish presenter Laura Whitmore since July 2017.

In fact, Iain, who recently posted a picture of him and his girlfriend on their anniversary with the caption: '2 years with my best mate x',  revealed this morning that Laura visited him in Majorca last week.

"She was out here last week, she had a lovely time," he said. "And then I am going home tomorrow, which I can't wait [for]."
When Richard cheekily asked Iain if he should buy a hat, the comic came over all bashful.

"For what?" he laughed. "First Piers [Morgan] and now you! What is it with this show and everyone getting heavily involved with my personal life?"
