TWO local council employees were listed yesterday as part of online appreciation for council workers.

Abigayle Johnson and Zuby Hamard from Bradford Council were included in an A-Z list of stand-out council employees across the country by the Local Government Association (LGA) on Twitter.

Miss Johnson, an apprentice painter and decorator in Bradford Council’s Building and Technical Services team was commended for the number of awards she's won.

This includes being crowned Bradford's Apprentice of the Year at the start of last month.

Bradford Council also applauded Miss Johnson on Twitter for painting three fairy-tale murals at a council building used by children's services.

Mrs Hamard, the strategic lead for sport and physical activity at the council, was recognised on the LGA's list for empowering communities and bringing about change from the bottom up.

On Mrs Hamard's recognition, the council said on Twitter: "Zuby’s job aims to get more people more active, more often in their everyday lives.

"She works to make sure sport and physical activity is inclusive so everyone can enjoy healthier lifestyles choices."
