A POLL run by a Bradford policing team has revealed "burglary and vehicle crime" is a preferred community priority.

The West Yorkshire Police Bradford East team ran a Facebook poll last week asking locals what crime should be prioritised and tackled in their local communities.

The poll, which ended yesterday, gave two options for people to select - "burglary and vehicle crime" or "nuisance vehicles and drugs."

Both options were illustrated with a gif.

The former showed a robber from popular PC franchise, The Sims, tiptoeing around a house, while the latter shows a car weaving dangerously between traffic.

Around 1500 people responded to the social media poser.

The results showed that 60 per cent of those considered "burglary and vehicle crime" the most important issue to prioritise in their community.

Many commenters felt though that they shouldn't have to choose and that both should be prioritised, as well as all other crimes.

Police responded to this when revealing the results of the poll yesterday.

It said: "The purpose of the Poll was to create discussion on victim based offences and offences that are perceived to be 'victimless'.

"They require different policing styles and different resources.

It added: "The question asked what you consider to be your priority and did not suggest we would priorities one over the other.

"We like to ensure we engage with our communities and set changing priorities to focus on with our small Neighbourhood Teams.

"We of course tackle all forms of crime and will continue to do so. However, priorities are important when considering days of action and patrol tasking."
