BRADFORD companies are reining in spending ahead of Brexit according to the latest Bradford Chamber of Commerce survey.

President Nick Garthwaite, the managing director of Bradford chemicals company Christeyns, said: “The latest Chamber survey strongly indicates that companies are taking a cautious view on investment in advance of future trading relations with the EU.

"When asked whether they had taken time to consider potential impact of Brexit, 61% said that they had, which is reassuring. Nearly half of companies have mapped out their supplier and customer base and considered how changes in UK-EU trade relations might affect them.

"We would encourage all companies to consider how Brexit might affect them and to help we have put together a checklist which can be accessed at www.wnychamber.co.uk/europe.

"Increased costs and general uncertainty were the over-riding concerns of many businesses in the district, although a significant number also consider it will be business as usual and don’t envisage any impact.

"Whatever the outcome of Tuesday’s vote, we would want to see clarity and certainty as quickly as possible so that businesses can plan for the future with a degree of confidence.”
