BRADFORD Council’s budget for the coming year will be decided this week, and is likely to include millions of pounds worth of cuts, as well as job losses.

The draft budget, announced in November, revealed that the Council will have to make £13.5 million in savings for 2019-20 as government funding for local authorities dries up.

The draft also revealed that Council Tax would rise by 2.99 per cent, services would be cut and hundreds jobs would be lost.

Services like libraries and museums are among those being hit.

The Council’s decision making Executive will discuss the budget, as well as feedback from the public consultation and from trade unions, at a meeting on Tuesday.

Then, on Thursday, the entire Council will meet to scrutinise the budget and decide whether to approve Labour’s draft budget.

The Executive meets in City Hall at 10.30am on Tuesday while the full Council meets at 4pm on Thursday.
