HAWORTH Steam Brewery will have a presence at some of this year’s high profile festivals - including Chris Evans’ Car Fest and Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park.

Car Fest, the annual family, music and motoring festival founded in 2012 by radio presenter, Chris Evans, and Pub in the Park run by Michelin-starred celebrity chef, Tom Kerridge, are among the many outside events Kelly Gascoigne is attending to profile the family-run company’s gin and real ale products, among them the popular Miss Mollies gins and Gascoigne’s Yorkshire Tonics.

Kelly explains how they were invited to attend this year’s Car Fest North in Cheshire in July and Car Fest South in Hampshire in August, and Pub in the Park in Roundhay Park, Leeds, in May, Knutsford and Bath in June, Tunbridge Wells in July, Chiswick and St Alban’s in September after being noticed at last year’s Chatsworth Country Fair.

“The fact we got noticed at Chatsworth Country Fair because we are only a small company in Haworth was nice,” says Kelly.

This year is already proving to be a busy year for the family run business. As well as appearing at Car Fest and Pub in the Park they will also have a presence at this weekend’s Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb, a large festival market featuring rhubarb-themed products, in Wakefield. The festival runs from today ( Friday February 22) until Sunday (February 24).

Kelly, says she is ‘really excited’ to be attending the Festivals.

But it won’t be the first time Kelly will be mingling with celebrities. She previously profiled the family’s drink ranges at the Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival near Skipton last year.

Kelly recalls celebrity chef, James Martin, using one of their gins - Haworth Lamplighter, an original handcrafted dry gin - in one of his recipes at the event. She proudly keeps the bottle signed by the Yorkshire-born chef.

Gins continue to be popular as the drink has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent years.

And with such an extensive range of flavours to choose from, it’s no wonder the drink has become so popular, particularly with those seeking something a little bit different from the norm.

Among the range produced by Gascoigne’s are the sweet shop favourites such as Miss Mollies parma violet. Yorkshire Rhubarb pays homage to the county’s Rhubarb Triangle.

Kelly says their range of Gascoigne’s Yorkshire tonics are proving popular too.

“People are really keen if you have something different. They want to know about it, they are interested in it,” says Kelly.

“And we have met some really nice people along the way in the same industry.”
