AN AMBULANCE worker has spoken of her anger after her emergency vehicle was broken into at St Luke's Hospital while on a call.

Her personal bag containing her bank cards and car keys was stolen in the incident and then the thieves went to Bradford Ambulance Station's car park and drove off in her pride and joy Audi S3.

They also used her bank cards to make contactless payments in Bradford and Harehills.

The emergency care worker, 27, said she and a colleague were looking after a seriously-ill patient when they discovered the break-in of the vehicle parked outside.

She said: "It shouldn't happen. It's ridiculous.

"They shouldn't do that to an emergency vehicle. They had to get another crew to transport the patient."

The break-in at the hospital happened on Wednesday at about 9.15pm.

The passenger side window was smashed and the vehicle was taken off the road for repairs.

She said it was the first time she had heard that an ambulance had been targeted in Bradford.

The emergency care worker said she thought the thieves must have followed the vehicle from the ambulance station after seeing her park her car there.

She thought it must have been planned as a colleague's bag was right next to hers but was not taken.

She said she did not think she would ever get her car back.

"Who knows what's been done with it.

"It should be safe in the car park."

She said the theft of her car was recorded on the ambulance station's CCTV but because of rain on the lens, not much could be made out.
