THE charity Refugee Action is calling for employers in Bradford to take part in the first ever recruitment event for refugees and other migrants.

The event, being held at Skillshouse Bradford in Forster Square tomorrow between 10am and 3pm, aims to introduce employers to refugees and migrants who have skills to offer local businesses.

Ruth Gray, from Refugee Action, who is organising the event, said: “When refugees flee their country due to war and persecution, they really want to rebuild their lives and get back into work.

“Refugees arrive with an abundance of skills and talent and we’d love to see more Bradford employers’ benefitting from their expertise.

“Employers from across Bradford are invited to attend the event, meet with refugees and migrants and learn more about what they have to offer.”

One of the Bradford employers already benefitting is Securicore Ltd, who have employed ten refugees to help support their security guard service.

Steve Mullen, Managing Director of Securicore Ltd, said: “It has been really beneficial for us to partner with Refugee Action and the Working English project.

“We have signed up refugees for work and it has opened our eyes to the people who are living in our city.”

Refugees and migrants are also being encouraged to come to the event with a range of ‘messy play’ activities being put on for children.
