A CALL has gone out for people to become “ambassadors” for Bradford to help promote the district.

Recruitment is currently underway for Believing in Bradford Ambassadors for the coming year.

The programme was set up in 2016 by the city’s Lord Mayor and the Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Revd Toby Howarth. It brings together people from across Bradford District from a whole range of different backgrounds, ages, cultures and faiths. Over the course of a year they act as ambassadors for the district and represent its diverse communities at a range of events and occasions.

Believing in Bradford gives people from across the district an opportunity to stand up for Bradford in a variety of different ways over the course of a year. There are four training and development events, opportunities to represent the City and support the Lord Mayor at a wide range of civic events, and a free residential break to spend time working together on projects that will benefit the city and district.

Bradford Dragonboat Festival smashes fundraising record

Deborah, a previous participant in the programme, said “This is a brilliant opportunity to meet and work with people whom I might never have met, and form life-long, life-giving relationships as we care for the good of Bradford together.”

Projects that have happened or are underway include taking part in the annual Dragon Boat Festival, a running group which is aiming to organise a community marathon, coordinating a database of stories from people from other countries who have come to call Bradford home, or celebrating the role of Women and Faith across Bradford.

Anyone over the age of 18 can apply, and the programme is accessible for people with disabilities.

Application forms are available from Carmel Dylak on 0113 353 0290 or Carmel.Dylak@leeds.anglican.org.

For informal conversations about what the programme entails, people can call Andrew Howorth on 01274 232442 or Cat Thatcher on 01535 648391.
