THERE has been one further death from coronavirus reported today at hospitals in the Bradford district.

Public Health England (PHE) announced in its daily update that there was a single new death from the COVID-19 virus reported at hospitals in the district.

Today's reported death happened at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI), on Saturday, May 23.

There were no further reported deaths from coronavirus at either of Airedale General Hospital or Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

It takes the total death toll in the Bradford district to 293 - 191 at BRI, 100 at Airedale and two at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

PHE announced 13 patients in the North East and Yorkshire who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died.

There were an extra 59* deaths reported today across England, taking the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in the country to 25,750.

Patients in today's update were aged between 44 and 98-years-old. 

Most had underlying health conditions, but four of the 59 patients (aged between 56 and 91-years-old) had no known health issues.

Their families have been informed.

*A spokesperson for PHE said: "The Covid Patient Notification System did not operate between 4.55am and 3pm on Sunday, May 24 due to connectivity issues experienced by an external supplier. 

"The number of deaths reported today by NHS England and NHS Improvement may therefore reflect this situation.

"The system is now fully operational and the reports of any deaths which were not able to be entered yesterday will be uploaded and reconciled."
