Accountability question shows Holyrood mirrors Westminster

Neither of them may care to dwell on this but Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson were on the same page today. Just as the prime minister accused Keir Starmer of “politicising” the Covid-crisis so Ms Sturgeon wondered why Conservative members of the Scottish parliament were “moving away from absolutely legitimate scrutiny” to what she deemed “attempts to party politicise this issue”. Like the prime minister, she suggested “this is not what the majority of people” across Scotland “want to see”.

Admittedly the first minister was responding to a snippy question from Peter Chapman, the northeast Tory farmer, complaining that Jeane Freeman, the health secretary, had failed to respond to emails from and on behalf of some of his constituents. But Ms Sturgeon was equally dismissive
