Flybe’s new Cornwall flight to woo Poldark’s overseas fans

Britain’s most celebrated six-pack appears to have helped inspire an airline to launch a new flight to Cornwall to transport Poldark’s legion of fans who want to pay homage.

There has been no direct flight to Cornwall from Heathrow since 1997 but Flybe, Europe’s largest independent regional airline, will start flying from Heathrow to Newquay next weekend. The airline currently flies from Gatwick to Newquay.

It is hoped that tourists from China, where the BBC series starring Aidan Turner has proved a huge hit, will fly into Heathrow and straight on to Cornwall, which attracts hordes to its rugged coastline and unspoilt beaches.
