Anglea Merkel has sought to dispel any lingering doubts about her health by insisting that she is capable of doing her job until her term finishes in 2021.
The German chancellor, who celebrated turning 65 on Wednesday, batted away persistent questioning about three spells of trembling in public over the past month. During her annual press appearance, she declined to go into the details of her medical problem, which has interrupted two ceremonies to welcome foreign leaders.
“I also have a strong personal interest in my own health,” she said. “I hope there will be another life after [my retirement]. And I would like to lead it in good health.”
She also warned President Putin against Russian meddling in European politics with his support for
