Scotland’s leading animal welfare charity has appealed for animal lovers to help to feed more than 150 orphaned and injured hedgehogs.

The Scottish SPCA needs donations of tinned and sachet cat and dog food for hedgehogs being cared for at its National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross, Clackmannanshire.

Colin Seddon, the centre’s manager, said: “We are constantly caring for a large number of hedgehogs but this number rises over the winter months. We currently have over 150 in our care, most of which will be staying with us until the new year and because of this we are struggling to keep up with the demand for cat and dog food.
