The first official 20th-anniversary screening of The Matrix will be held at next year’s Glasgow Film Festival. The festival opens in February and will be marked by Matrix-themed installations. An after party will be held in the caverns beneath the Argyle Street arches on February 22 and 23 celebrating the science fiction classic, which starred Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss. The festival will also pay tribute to the films of 1969, which the organisers have dubbed the “end of innocence”, as well as celebrating Belgian filmmaking. David McDonald, depute leader of Glasgow city council, said: “The film festival is always keenly anticipated and helps maintain the city’s reputation for its love of cinema.”
