My favourite author or book
Cysgod y Cryman by Islwyn Ffowc Elis. This was Elis’s first novel and in 1999 was voted the Welsh-language book of the 20th century by the Arts Council of Wales.
The book I’m reading
The Richard Burton Diaries. A fascinating insight into Burton the father, husband, family man, actor, film star. Also, the diaries of the man born Richard Jenkins between 1939 and 1984 are intriguing: a map of his life penned with care and dedication. Plaudits for Professor Chris Williams in his achievement of collecting all these diaries into what is certainly the heaviest book anyone will ever carry around the world.
