Newcastle United’s summer of discontent has taken another turn for the worse after two of the club’s most experienced players were filmed during a late-night altercation following a pub crawl.

Jonjo Shelvey, the England international, is alleged to have become involved in a verbal dispute, while Karl Darlow, the goalkeeper, allegedly kicked another man several hours before Newcastle’s first-team left for their pre-season tour of China.

It was reported by MailOnline that the incident took place in Morpeth, Northumberland, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Northumbria Police were not called, while the club have not commented, although both players can expect to be disciplined.
