Rachael Stainsby, 31, and David Smith, 54, who both work for his company DJS Process Consulting, were married on September 21, 2019 at Aykley Heads House in Aykley Heads, Durham
Rachael and Dave say it was Alfie who brought them together. Dave had three horses at the time and was looking for someone to ride his ageing gelding, Alfie. Rachael took on the role.
A keen rider, Rachael was then working as a bioanalytical scientist. She heard about the opportunity through a colleague who had met Dave at a work event. Rachael visited Dave at his farmhouse outside Durham and watched him ride Alfie. “There is something about a man riding a horse,” she says. “I thought, ‘He’s quite nice.’ ”
