A dog could be your heart’s best friend: a study has found that owners have lower blood pressure and a reduced risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Researchers have also found that dog owners tend to earn more, are less likely to have diabetes, eat healthier foods, are at least 2lb lighter on average and exercise more.

The study examined the association of pet ownership with lifestyle habits and other factors that are linked to the risk of cardiovascular disease.
