For decades, this grade II listed Georgian townhouse in the centre of Ludlow served as a dental surgery, its interior carved up into a warren of offices. Now the antiseptic smell has been replaced by the fragrance from vases of fresh flowers — over the past few years, the house on Broad Street has been stripped back and meticulously restored as a five-bedroom home. It retains the original wooden floors and an oak staircase that rises through five floors to a roof lantern, but there’s a huge pale grey kitchen with an Aga and an island, and the 140ft rear garden has been landscaped. Although Ludlow is no longer home to any Michelin-starred restaurants, the town is still a firm foodie favourite. 01584
