A season’s big moments need no introduction. They don’t leave room for ambiguity or doubt. They crash in, an assault on the senses, noisy and dramatic. No one inside Rugby Park had much doubt what it meant when Scott Brown’s volley flashed into the net to floor Kilmarnock and take a game Celtic hadn’t looked like winning. Brown got a second booking for rushing to the crowd to celebrate, the two packed Celtic ends exploded and dozens of fans spilled on to the trackside and the pitch in scenes which Kilmarnock’s stewards struggled to contain. The reaction was excessive and unwelcome but, when order was restored, the chants were emphatic: “Champions again.”
