Deville woman dies in La. 28 East crash

A Deville woman died late Tuesday afternoon as she drove into the path of an 18-wheeler, according to Louisiana State Police.

A Deville woman died late Tuesday afternoon as she drove into the path of an 18-wheeler, according to Louisiana State Police.

Alexis M. Doucet, 18, died at the scene of the crash that happened around 11:35 a.m. on La. Highway 28 East at the intersection with La. Highway 115.

According to a release, Doucet was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on La. 115. As she turned left onto La. 28, a Kenworth truck traveling eastbound hit the pickup truck.

Doucet was wearing her seat belt, as was the unidentified driver of the Kenworth. That driver was not injured, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation. It's the 38th fatal crash of 2019 in Troop E and the 42nd fatality.
