Highgate Albion made it through to the final of the Middlesex Junior Trophy after a thrilling 3-2 win over St Mary’s Harefield.

Albion went 1-0 up when Paul Reid and Luke Morgan’s pressing of the defence allowed Reid to slot home, but Harefield bounced back with a superb free-kick.

Highgate captain Daniel Gaude responded with a free-kick of his own but, with 15 minutes left, Harefield set up a dramatic finale when they converted from the penalty spot.

Joe O’Connor was the hero though, as with seven minutes remaining, he headed in a long throw from Shane McNamara to set up a final with Bedfont & Feltham on Sunday, March 14.

Whetstone Wanderers were on the wrong side of a 3-1 loss in the Barnet Sunday League Division 2, losing to Continental 58.

Wanderers dominated early on and managed to take the lead when Jayshay Monrose’s shot took a nick off a Continental defender and ended up in the bottom left corner.

However, two goals in quick succession at the start of the second half, and another later turned the game on its head to win the game for Continental.

AFC Oakwood were big winner in Division 3, smashing Arnos Rangers 6-1.

Strong winds were forcing both sides to keep the ball on the floor, but this made little difference to Oakwood’s scoring ability as Josh Levers’ cross was turned into his own net by an Arnos defender.

Rangers equalised against the run of play but Archie Gates restored the lead with a stunning free-kick.

James Lever entered the pitch for the second half and got two assists in the second half as Oakwood added three goals to their tally through Campbell Garner, Daniel Togwell and Josh Lever.

With Oakwood cruising to victory, Vass Constantinides got in on the act and added a sixth which sealed a well-deserved three points.
