A WORKINGTON pair has been jailed for shoplifting chicken, steak and whiskey.
Gemma Louise Burns, 34, of Razia Court, and Michael Peter Burns, 35, of the same address, were jailed for jointly shoplifting from Workington's B&M and the Coop in Cockermouth.
Gemma was jailed for 30 days for stealing three packs of chicken from B&M with Michael on June 11.
Magistrates at the Workington court said the offence was serious because Gemma was subject to a community sentence when the offence was committed and she was banned from the shop.
Michael was jailed for 60 days for stealing three bottles of whiskey from the Coop with Gemma on May 3.
On May 20 the pair also stole nine packs of steak from the same shop.
Michael admitted a separate charge of assaulting a police officer on June 13.
Magistrates said Michael had a "flagrant disregard for court orders."
A criminal behaviour order was amended to include shops in the Workington and Cockermouth Shopwatch scheme for both defendants.
They appeared at the Workington court on Friday, where they were also ordered to pay compensation for the items stolen.
