40 targeted by fraudsters in phone scam
Residents in Workington have been the victims of a phone scam.
Almost 40 people have been targeted by the phone scam in one day.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "The offenders already appear to have some basic details of the victims but they attempt to gain further information to withdraw funds.
"The amount of £600 is a common feature.
"We would advise members of the community who receive such calls to end the call immediately and not to engage with the offenders.
"If you feel you may have disclosed any bank details, please inform your bank immediately and call police on 101."
