A Keswick firm has won a contract with Sellafield Ltd to help the nuclear firm encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking.

The Harrison Network will lead the project, which will see a team of four experts deliver a series of training programmes that will encourage innovation, commercial understanding and entrepreneurial leadership.

The approach is designed to underpin Sellafield’s drive to become a leaner and more agile organisation.

Lucy Harrison, director of the Harrison Network, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this piece of work.

“This particular package is all about changing cultures and developing leaders and teams.

“Sellafield is investing in the people who will be making dynamic changes happen at their site for years to come. I’m delighted that we are going to be part of those changes.”

“We coach, facilitate and train people to be able to develop the behaviours that drive change and innovation. It is all about developing an entrepreneurial training programme that will work in the real Sellafield context.

“The brief really played to our strengths of combining entrepreneurial behaviours with coaching skills to support new, agile ways of working.”

A Sellafield Ltd spokesman said: “We particularly liked the combination and breadth of experiences that the Harrison Network brought to this pitch.

“Their understanding of the issues faced by Sellafield Ltd combined with their proven results, both locally and nationally, led to their success.”

The Harrison Network is the latest SME to win a contract through the LINC scheme, which aims to help SMEs tender for work at the West Cumbrian nuclear site.

Lucy added: “The LINC process was much more user-friendly than the usual procurement channels and that was really important to us as an SME.

“We don’t have tender specialists to write these things; I have to be able to turn my hand to anything so it’s fantastic to get such a positive response.

“We’ve created programmes for big industrial clients in the past and seen the approach work really well in practice, making a difference.”
