Update Aadhaar photo, mobile number, email ID without any document. Here's how

UIDAI is the issuer of the 12-digit personal Unique Identity Number, also known as the Aadhaar number. One can update their photo, mobile number, biometric data in Aadhaar without any documents.

New Delhi: Are you aware that you can get your photo, mobile number, email ID etc. updated in Aadhaar without submitting any document? Recently, UIDAI tweeted that for getting the Aadhaar photograph, as well as other details such as biometrics, the registered mobile number and email address, updated, the Aadhaar cardholder only has to walk into an Aadhaar Kendra (Aadhaar Centre) with the Aadhaar card.

Unique Identification Authority of India said (UIDAI) stated that no document is required to be submitted for the update. UIDAI is the issuer of the 12-digit personal identification number, Unique Identity Number, also known as the Aadhaar number. 

It may be noted that enrolment for Aadhaar card requires the applicant to provide basic details such as name, date of birth, address, mobile number and email. These details can be updated by visiting an Aadhaar centre. In order to obtain the Aadhaar number, applicants are required to provide their demographic and biometric details for the enrolment process. 

The UIDAI has started Aadhaar Seva Kendra services in cities like Delhi, Bhopal, Chennai, Agra, Hisar, Chandigarh and Vijayawada. Adhaar Seva Kendras in Chennai, Bhopal, Patna and Guwahati are also likely to become operational soon. These Aadhaar Seva Kendras have eight to 16 enrolment counters, 40 to 80 seated waiting areas and electronic token system besides other amenities. 

Worth mentioning here is that any resident can take an online advance appointment and visit as per their convenience. New Aadhaar applicants, as well as existing holders, can book appointments at ASKs for services related to fresh Aadhaar enrolment, name update, address update, mobile number update, Email number update, Email ID update, date of birth update, gender update and biometric update including photo, fingerprints and iris.

UIDAI is planning to open 114 such centres in 53 cities across the country to provide hassle-free Aadhaar enrolment and update services to the people with prior appointment. It also intends to complete set up of all the 114 ASKs by the end of the year 2019.

The online appointment booking process for these Kendras is free of cost. However, according to a UIDAI release, the ASKs have a token system, The residents will get a token for their Aadhaar related work and move to a verifier for document checking. After verification is complete, the resident will have to move to 'cash counter' for payment of Rs 50 (Aadhaar update charges, if required). After this, the resident will be assigned an operator counter.
