The Central University of Punjab, CUP has asked its students to choose semester exam dates of their choice this semester. The examination as per UGC guidelines would be conducted from July 6 onwards with a Nobel initiative to reduce stress on students.

Vice-chancellor RK Kohli said that the examination would be conducted in slots and these slots will be allocated to students where they can enroll themselves on first cum first serve basis. The varsity has decided four exam schedules in a day for the convenience of students, including on weekends.

While speaking to HT, Vice-chancellor RK Kohli said, “The university will only release the examination schedule, and students will have the flexibility to choose dates to write their tests. A total of 140 students can appear for the exam in one slot while strictly following the medical protocol in view of the coronavirus outbreak.”

This exam system will benefit students during such a tough time of COVID19 and also in a situation when the dates of the UGC entrance test and other exams would clash with the university’s academic schedules.

The VC more added, “If a student wishes, the CUP will allow her or him to take more than one or even all four exams on a single day. To handle the possibility of repetition of question papers, the university has developed an automated paper setter.”

A dry run for the same was tested successfully earlier this year by the varsity. Moreover, the main focus of the university is to help students manage exam-related stress. Faculty members of the university find this initiative a positive way to help students who are under a lot of stress due to lockdown.
