Janmashtami School Holiday: Schools, Colleges in Haryana to remain closed on August 23

All Government schools and colleges in the state of Haryana would remain closed on Friday, August 23, 2019 in lieu of Janmashtami. The Haryana Government yesterday declared Janmashtami as a Gazetted Holiday. Apart from schools and colleges, all government offices would also remain closed. As for private schools and colleges, parents are advised to check with the respective schools.

Many schools had earlier declared August 24 as the Janmashtami holiday. However, the dates have been revised and the state government has yesterday notified the change in the holiday. Banks are also likely to remain closed on Friday in Haryana. The rule, however, may not apply to private banks, offices, schools and colleges.

Apart from Haryana, UP is also expected to declare holiday on Friday, August 23. There are independent reports that Janmashtami would be celebrated on August 23. The government, however, has not confirmed the same.

All are again advised to note that the order is limited to government schools and colleges. The notice for private schools would be issued separately by the respective schools. All concerned are advised to check with the respective institutions regarding the same. The notices, however, may be issued as late as Thursday evening. Updates would also be provided here.
