Ranchi: Giridih is one of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of Jharkhand. The Parliamentary constituency of Giridih covers portions of Bokaro, Dhanbad and Giridih districts. The seat of Giridih is going to polls in the sixth phase of the 2019 general elections which will be held on May 12. Giridih is one of the seats which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has offered to All Jharkhand Student Union (AJSU). AJSU senior leader and Jharkhand Water Resources Minister Chandraprakash Choudhary is contesting against Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Jagarnath Mahato.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Ravindra Kumar Pandey of the BJP won by defeating the JMM candidate Jagarnath Mahto with a vote margin of 40,313. Ravindra Kumar Pandey was the MP from the 2009 elections when he defeated Teklal Mahto of the JMM.
