Raipur City West Assembly Election Result: Congress Candidate VIKAS UPADHYAY is won by 12,212 Votes
Raipur West is located in the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. BJP won the elections from the constituency since 2008. The current MLA, Rajesh Munat won the elections in 2013.
Raipur: The constituency of Raipur City West is a part of Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district. The elections were held in the second phase of polling, on November 20. The BJP won the seat in the last two Assembly elections. The party’s Rajesh Munat defeated Congress’ Vikas Upadhyay in 2013 by a margin of 6,100 votes.
The candidate for the 2018 elections form BJP is Rajesh Munat, from BSP is Bhojraj Gaurkhede, and from Congress is Vikas Upadhyay.
Raipur City West recorded a voting percentage of 60.45%.
The current BJP MLA, Rajesh Munat, had assets worth Rs. 3.1 crores during the 2013 elections.
The city of Raipur has a tropical wet and dry climate. The temperatures remain moderate throughout the years except for the months of summer, from March to June which is extremely hot.
Raipur is the educational hub of the state of Chhattisgarh because of the presence of prestigious institutes like the IIM, IIT, NIT, and AIIMS.
Apart from Raipur City West, Raipur district comprises the constituencies of Abhanpur, Arang, Raipur City North, Raipur Rural and Raipur City South.

As trends indicate a route for the BJP, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says, "People voted against BJP. This is the people’s verdict and a victory of the people of this country 1/3 in Chhattisgarh."

7:30 am: "Counting of postal ballots will begin at 8 am and half-an-hour after they are counted, the process to count votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will begin," an election commission official told news agency.

6:45 am: Hitting out at Raman Singh-led government, Congress leader Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said the 15-year-old BJP rule will change this time with the Congress scripting a history. He accused the BJP regime of doing nothing for the farmers.
6:40 am: State BJP chief Dharamlal Kaushik expressed confidence in his party of winning the Chhattisgarh Assembly election. Taking a dig at the Congress, Kaushik said that the grand old party "should be prepared to tackle the infighting that will erupt within its leaders post after facing the drubbing".
6:35 am: Ajit Jogi, who parted ways with the Congress in 2016, was the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh. His wife Renu Jogi and daughter-in-law Richa Jogi contested the Chhattisgarh polls on JCC and BSP ticket respectively.
6:30 am: One of the keenly watched contest will be the battle between CM Raman Singh and Karuna Shukla, who is the niece of late former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Both the heavyweights are contesting from Rajnandgaon Constituency, the home turf of Raman Singh.
6:25 am: With Chhattisgarh election results scheduled to be announced today, the fate of 1269 contestants, including Chief Minister Raman Singh will be decided today.
6:20 am: An election official confirmed to news agency PTI that tight security has been maintained. "As many as 5,184 counting personnel and 1,500 micro-observers have been appointed for smooth conduct of the process," he said.

6:10 am: The counting of votes for the Chhattisgarh Assembly Polls will begin at 8 am today. An election official on Monday said that Counting for all 90 seats would start at 8 am at the 27 district headquarters.
