Raipur Rural Assembly Election Result: Congress Candidate SATYANARAYAN SHARMA is won by 10,453 Votes

Raipur Rural is a part of Raipur district. The current Congress MLA, Satyanarayan Sharma won the elections in 2013, defeating BJP’s Nande Sahu.

Raipur: The constituency of Raipur Rural is a part of the Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district. The elections were held in the second phase of polling, on November 20. The Indian National Congress’ (INC) Satyanarayan Sharma defeated BJP’s Nande Sahu in the 2013 Assembly elections by a margin of 1,800 votes.

The contesting candidate for the 2018 elections from BJP is Nande Kumar Sahu, from JCC (Janta Congress Chhattisgarh) is Dr Omprakash Dewangan, and from Congress is Satya Narayan Sharma. 

Raipur Rural recorded a voting percentage of 61.09%.

The current Congress MLA, Satyanarayan Sharma, had assets worth Rs. 4.32 crores during the 2013 elections.

According to the 2011 census 63.50% of Raipur district's population lives in the rural region. The average literacy rate in the rural area is 70.47%, compared to the state average of 70.28%.

Apart from Raipur Rural, Raipur district comprises the constituencies of Abhanpur, Arang, Raipur city North, Raipur city South and Raipur City West.

11:15 pm: Indian National Congress Candidate SATYANARAYAN SHARMA is won by 10,453 Votes. SATYANARAYAN SHARMA Total 78,468 votes. Second No Bharatiya Janata Party  Candidate NAND KUMAR SAHU (NANDE BHAIYA) Gets 68,015 votes. 

16:48 pm: Congress Candidate SATYANARAYAN SHARMA is leading by 12,079 Votes.

13:58 pm: The constituency of Raipur City Gramin is in Chhattisgarh's Central Region region. CONG's candidate Satyanarayan Sharma is the sitting MLA. In counting so far, Satyanarayan Sharma is leading by 765.0 votes.

13:06 pm: Satyanarayan Sharma of the Indian National Congress is ahead with 12809 votes. He was contesting against Nand Kumar Sahu (Nande Bhaiya) of the BJP.

12:48 pm: EC has released the trends for 81 Chhattisgarh Assembly seats. Congress leading in 59 seats, BJP ahead in 16. Ajit Jogi's political outfit ahead in five seats and Gondvana Gantantra Party leading from a single seat.

12:40 pm: Indian National Congress ahead in 55 seats, BJP leading in 18, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh in 4 and Gondvana Gantantra Party and Communist Party of India were ahead in one seat respectively, EC figures say.

12:00 am: According to Election Commission Congress is leading in 53 seats, BJP in 16, Communist Party of India in 1, Gondvana Gantantra Party in 1 and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) in 4 seats.

As trends indicate a route for the BJP, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says, "People voted against BJP. This is the people’s verdict and a victory of the people of this country 1/3 in Chhattisgarh."

"Victory of democracy and victory against injustice, atrocities, destruction of institutions, misuse of agencies, no work for poor people, farmers, youth, Dalits, SC, ST, OBC, minorities and general caste," she tweeted.

"Semifinal proves that BJP is nowhere in all the states. This is a real democratic indication of 2019 final match. Ultimately, people are always the ‘man of the match’ of democracy. My congrats to the winners."

11:42 am: According to Election Commission Congress is leading in 53 seats, BJP in 16, Communist Party of India in 1, Gondvana Gantantra Party in 1 and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) in 4 seats.

11:31 am: As per ECI trends, Congress is heading for a win. The grand old party which has been away from power since 2003 was leading on 40 seats, BJP on 15, Janata Congress on 5 seats.

11:16 am:  After three hours of counting trends say that Congress was ahead in 60 assembly seats. The ruling BJP was ahead in 21 seats and BSP+2 and Others 7.

10:53 am: Latest trends say that the Congress was racing ahead in 58 seats, BJP in 24, BSP+2 and Others 5. The BJP is ahead in Vaishalinagar, Pamgarh, Bilaspur and Rampur seats.

8:22 am: As the postal ballots are being opened, trends indicate that the Congress is ahead in three seats and the BJP ahead in two.

8:20 am: Sources suggest that the BJP is on the backfoot and post the Chhattisgarh Election results the party will try to get the Independents on its side if the margin is less. Another confirmation that we are getting is Ajit Jogi is reported to be more inclined towards the Congress.

8:15 am: There has been no action in the BJP headquarters in Chhattisgarh. All winning candidates have been asked to report at the HQs post-victory by evening. Raman Singh's schedule and visit to the HQs entirely depends on numbers. But as per the schedule, he is expected to come around at 3 pm. In the evening Raman Singh will have a meeting with the winning candidates.

7:55 am: The Congress has decided to lodge all its winning candidates at 'Celebrations Hotel' in Raipur. The hotel is owned by a Congress leader.

7:50 am: There are 90 Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. 51 are reserved for general category, 10 for Scheduled Castes and 29 segments for Scheduled Tribes.

7:45 am: Out of the total 1,81,79,520 eligible voters, 1,38,61,884 people exercised their franchise in the recently concluded Chhattisgarh elections.

7:30 am: "Counting of postal ballots will begin at 8 am and half-an-hour after they are counted, the process to count votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will begin," an election commission official told news agency.

7:10 am: The BSP, Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) and Communist Party of India (CPI) had formed a pre-poll alliance to contest against the BJP and Congress in the Chhattisgarh Election.

7 am: The counting of votes will begin anytime now. Polling in Chattisgarh took place in two phases, the results for which are scheduled to be announced today along with the results of the 2018 Assembly elections for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Telangana.

6:55 am: JCC spokesperson Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi said his party will perform well and Ajit Jogi will become the chief minister as the alliance of three parties will come to power.

6:50 am: During Chhattisgarh Election 2013, the BJP bagged 49 seats, the Congress 39, the rest of the two seats went to the BSP and an Independent.

6:45 am: Hitting out at Raman Singh-led government, Congress leader Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said the 15-year-old BJP rule will change this time with the Congress scripting a history. He accused the BJP regime of doing nothing for the farmers.

6:40 am: State BJP chief Dharamlal Kaushik expressed confidence in his party of winning the Chhattisgarh Assembly election. Taking a dig at the Congress, Kaushik said that the grand old party "should be prepared to tackle the infighting that will erupt within its leaders post after facing the drubbing".

6:35 am: Ajit Jogi, who parted ways with the Congress in 2016, was the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh. His wife Renu Jogi and daughter-in-law Richa Jogi contested the Chhattisgarh polls on JCC and BSP ticket respectively.

6:30 am: One of the keenly watched contest will be the battle between CM Raman Singh and Karuna Shukla, who is the niece of late former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Both the heavyweights are contesting from Rajnandgaon Constituency, the home turf of Raman Singh.

6:25 am: With Chhattisgarh election results scheduled to be announced today, the fate of 1269 contestants, including Chief Minister Raman Singh will be decided today.

6:20 am: An election official confirmed to news agency PTI that tight security has been maintained. "As many as 5,184 counting personnel and 1,500 micro-observers have been appointed for smooth conduct of the process," he said.

6:15 am: Besides announcing the Chhattisgarh poll results, the Election Commission will declare the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election Results 2018, Rajasthan Assembly Election Results 2018, Telangana Assembly Election Results 2018 and Mizoram Assembly Election Results 2018

6:10 am: The counting of votes for the Chhattisgarh Assembly Polls will begin at 8 am today. An election official on Monday said that Counting for all 90 seats would start at 8 am at the 27 district headquarters.
