Aizawl North-1 Assembly Election: PRISM's Vanlalruata has won, wresting the seat away from R. Romawia.

In the 2013 Assembly elections, R. Romawia of Congress won the seat. For 2018 elections, MNF's Lalringliana is up against Congress' C. Lalhlimpuia.

Aizawl: The constituency of Aizawl North-I is in Mizoram's Mizoram region. CONG's candidate R. Romawia is the sitting MLA. PRISM's Vanlalruata has won, wresting the seat away from the incumbent R. Romawia.

The constituency of Aizawl North-1 is a part of Mizoram’s Aizawl district and is reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates. The Indian National Congress’ (INC) R Romawia won the seat in the 2013 Assembly elections. The candidate contesting from Congress for the 2018 elections is  C Lalhlimpuia and from Mizo National Front (MNF) is Lalringliana.  BJP's David Lalfakzuala is also fighting polls from this constituency. 

The state of Mizoram recorded a voting percentage of 80.15%.

Apart from Aizawl North-1, Aizawl district comprises the constituencies of Aizawl East-1, Aizawl East-2, Aizawl North-2, Aizawl North-3, Aizawl South-1, Aizawl South-2, Aizawl South-3, Aizawl West-1, Aizawl West-2, Aizawl West-3, Chalfilh, Tuivawl and Tawi.

The voters of Mizoram cast their ballots on November 28 to elect a 40-member House in the 2018 Assembly elections. Results will be declared on December 11. Mizoram is the only state in the north-east which is ruled by a Congress government. 

The Congress, under five-time chief minister Lal Thanhawla, has been in power in the state since 2008. In the Assembly Elections 2018, the ruling party faces a strong challenge from the Opposition Mizo National Front. According to the Election Commission, the state has a voter population of 7.68 lakh.
