Bhopal Dakshin-Paschim: PC Sharma of Congress defeated BJP minister Umashankar Gupta

The sitting MLA from Bhopal Dakshin-Pashchim is BJP's Umashankar Gupta, Minister of Revenue and Science & Technology in the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The results of the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections will be declared on December 11. 

Bhopal: The counting of votes began in Madhya Pradesh on 11 December at 8:00 AM. As of now, PC Sharma of Congress defeated BJP minister Umashankar Gupta.

Party workers of the BJP, BSP, GGP and the Congress assembled at the counting center. Bhopal Dakshin-Pashchim constituency comes under Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh. The city of Bhopal serves as its administrative headquarters and it is also a part of Bhopal division.

The sitting MLA from Bhopal Dakshin-Pashchim is BJP's Umashankar Gupta, Minister of Revenue and Science & Technology in the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Gupta defeated Congress' Sanjeev Saxena by a margin of 18,198 votes in the 2013 Assembly elections.

In the 2018 Assembly elections, Gupta was up against PC Sharma of the Congress were a day later, the Bhopal Dakshin-Paschim constituency saw a voter turnout of 62.58 percent.

The district has a sex ratio of 918 females for every 1000 males and a literacy rate of 80.37%.

MP's 230 constituencies went to polls on November 28. The BJP’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan is seeking a fourth term as chief minister, while the Congress is trying to get back the state it lost to the BJP in 2003. Election results will be declared on December 11.
