Bhopal Madhya Assembly Election Result 2018: Congress' Arif Masood defeated BJP's Surendra N Singh

In the 2013 Assembly elections, BJP's Surendra Nath Singh defeated Arif Masood of the Congress by 6,981 votes. The 2018 Assembly elections will again see the two pitted against each other.

The results of the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections will be declared on December 11. 

Bhopal: The counting of votes began in Madhya Pradesh on 11 December at 8:00 AM. As of now, CONG's Arif Masood defeated BJP's Surendra N Singh. Party workers of the BJP, BSP, GGP and the Congress assembled at the counting center. The prestigious Bhopal Madhya constituency houses the Vidhan Sabha where the 230 elected members of the Legislative Assembly will sit a few days after the results are declared today on December 11. The district as a whole sends seven legislators to the Assembly.

Bhopal Madhya constituency went to the polls on November 28th while the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 65.40 percent on November 30th.

During the 2013 Assembly elections, the BJP's Surendra Nath Singh defeated Arif Masood of the Congress by a margin of 6,981 votes.

The 2018 Assembly elections again saw a contest between Singh, the sitting BJP MLA, and Masood, the Congress runner-up from 2013.  

Bhopal was selected as one of the 20 urban centers to be developed as a smart city under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship Smart Cities Mission.  

Voters of the state cast their ballots to elect their MLAs for the 230-member House on November 28. While Shivraj Singh Chouhan aimed for his fourth term as BJP CM, the Congress was hoping to wrest the state back after losing it to the BJP 15 years ago.
