Amidst 3-month prison sentence, Rajpal Yadav spreads happiness with a stand-up act in Tihar Jail

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who is currently serving 3 months imprisonment for failing to repay a Rs 5 crore loan, performed a stand-up comic act for inmates in Tihar Jail.

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who has been sentenced to three months' imprisonment for failing to repay a loan of Rs 5 crore, is currently serving jail time in Delhi's Tihar Jail. But for Yadav, revered for his comic timing, he can find his audience anywhere and everywhere. 

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the 47-year-old actor performed a stand-up act as part of the poets' meet programme in the prison. The report quotes a jail officer, who called his act a "laugh riot" and has further been quoted as saying, "There were several poets on the stage but Yadav made sure everyone laughed. Everyone was awestruck to see a celebrity on stage."

The officer further added that Yadav, who has been lodged in jail number 7, is keeping "everyone in good humour" and another senior officer revealed that the actor will also be directing a play for Christmas. The superintendent of jail number 7, Joginder Singh Sehrawat also added that the actor's conduct has been good. He has been quoted as saying, "He has not made any demands or asked to be treated differently. He spends his time in the library. For the uninitiated, Rajpal Yadav has worked in several Bollywood films including Welcome Back, Mein Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahta Hai, Mein Meri Patni Aur Woh, Bhool Bhulaiya, Darna Mana Hai, Hungama and Judwaa 2 among others. The actor and his wife, Radha, had reportedly taken a loan of Rs 5 crore for their film Ata Pata Laapata, which the duo failed to repay. The Delhi High Court ordered Yadav a three-month prison after the actor failed to repay the loan.
