Cops clash with civilians in Indore after people caught violating social distancing norms [VIDEO]

Indore: As central and state authorities struggle to mitigate the threat due to the impending coronavirus pandemic, civilians continue to violate guidelines that have been put in place for their own safety against the highly-contagious Covid-19 virus.

In a fresh such incident, police clashed with people in Raoji Bazar area of Indore on Tuesday after the cops found out that social distancing norms were being violated by people. The violators were chases by the police and there were also reports of lathicharge.

The incident comes a day after the Centre announced Lockdown 4.0 but with several relaxations in Green and Orange zones, as well as areas that do not fall under containment zones.

Indore is the worst-affected region of Madhya Pradesh, as 2,565 out of the total 5,236 confirmed cases in the state are from the district. More than 100 people have succumbed to the deadly disease in the district so far.

Last month, a video went viral on social media in which a police official was seen punishing a lockdown violator by making the man do sit-ups on the streets of Indore. 

Despite umpteen warning, people have been breaking rules and violating strict guidelines laid down by the government in wake of the raging pandemic that has gripped the entire world for over five months now.

More than 1 lakh people have been infected by the virus in India and over 3000 people have lost their lives so far. As per data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the government of India, as many as 101,139 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the country, while 3,163 people have succumbed to the disease till May 19.
