'Delhi-Faridabad border not sealed': Faridabad DC says govt officials, doctors & media still allowed to move

Faridabad: State Deputy Commissioner, on Monday, clarified that the Delhi-Faridabad border has not been sealed. It was further said that the restrictions have been increased to ensure that there is no unnecessary movement that takes place along the border. 

The DC further said that the officials and personnel working with the Government of India and Delhi government will still be allowed to travel by showcasing their ID cards, while also adding that no restrictions have been put on the movement of doctors and other essential staff will also be allowed movement.

'Anybody who wants to travel can apply for pass': Faridabad DC

In addition to that, it was also said that the Media personnel will also be allowed movement based on their passes. It was further said that anyone else who wants to travel between the two cities amid the ongoing coronavirus lockdown may also apply for curfew passes.

Further talking about the permissions that would be needed to transport items/goods between the two places, the DC said, "Permissions for items/goods being procured from Delhi and being brought to Faridabad will go through the DC office."

The clarification came after several media reports claimed of a midnight sealing of the border due to the rising coronavirus cases in the cities. The reports claimed that only some special staff members are being allowed to pass from the border and that the rest of the traffic is being held from moving across the border.

Coronavirus in India

The Union Health Ministry, on Monday morning, said that the total number of COVID-19 cases in India rose to 27,892 - out of which, 20,835 cases are currently active. It was further stated according to the ministry data that 872 people have lost their lives in connection with the virus in India as of now.
