New Delhi: Services on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line were affected on Sunday for about two hours due to some technical problem, causing huge inconvenience to the commuters.

Passengers faced hardship after the services were disrupted on the corridor around 9:30 am, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a tweet. Magenta Line connects Botanical Garden in Noida to Janakpuri West stations in Delhi.

"Due to a technical issue, train services will be run in following loops temporarily:1) Between Janakpuri West & R K Puram 2) Between Botanical Garden & Kalkaji," the DMRC tweeted, adding an exact cause of the snag was being ascertained.

According to officials, trains were operated on a single line between R K Puram and Kalkaji Mandir stations temporarily, news agency PTI reported.

The DMRC, in an official statement, said, "Train services on Line-8 (Magenta) between Kalkaji and R K Puram section were affected today from 8.55 AM to 11 AM due to motoring problem being reported from a train at Chirag Delhi UP platform (going towards Janakpuri West).”

It further said that after local troubleshooting measures, the train was withdrawn from service after deboarding its passengers at Chirag Delhi to avoid further delay on the Line and sent to the depot for investigation.

"During this period, services were run normal between Janakpuri West and R K Puram section as one loop and Kalkaji Mandir to Botanical Garden section as another loop. Whereas, connectivity was provided on the affected section between Kalkaji Mandir to R.K. Puram section on single line during the period," it also stated.

Around 11 am, the issue was resolved and normal services were resumed, officials said.

Last month, Delhi Metro services on Magenta Line was partially disrupted after a massive fire broke out at a furniture factory in Shaheen Bagh near Kalindi Kunj Metro Station on Friday morning.

Metro services between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj were also suspended temporarily due to smoke and fire from a fire underneath the section.

“Train movement has been stopped temporarily between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj due to smoke and fire from a fire underneath the section. We regret the inconvenience,” the DMRC had said in a tweet.

“Short loops are being run between Janakpuri West and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh. No service between Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden temporarily,” it added.
