Four Naxals held in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada

Dantewada: Four Naxals, three of them carrying cash reward on their heads, were arrested on Friday from two places in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said. While three cadres were apprehended from Farspal police station area, another one was held in Aranpur police station limits, an official here said.

Acting on a specific input about the presence of some suspects at Kaccheghat on Faraspal-Bhairamgarh road, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police raided the place and rounded up the trio, identified as Budhram alias Chhotu Oyam (22), Oyam Raju (35) and Punem Sukhram (28), he said.

Budhram and Raju were active as Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS) member and Janmilitia Commander respectively, the official said, adding that they were carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads. The duo was allegedly involved in the incidents of attack on police teams, damaging railway tracks and planting bombs in the area, he added.

Sukhram was active as a member of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangthan (DAKMS- a frontal outfit of Maoists) and allegedly tasked with arranging meetings of Naxals, conducting recce for them, damaging public property, putting up pamphlets, posters and banners, he added.

In a separate operation, the cadre identified as Nanda Kunjam (25), a Maoists' Local Organisation Squad (LOS) member, was arrested from the forest near Potali village, he said. Kunjam was also carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, he added.
