New Delhi: As political discourse gets murkier in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections 2019, so has the language used by politicians to attack each other. In a new ebb, senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya took to Twitter to take a swipe at the Gandhi family.

BJP national general secretary Vijayvargiya in a cryptic tweet mocked Rahul Gandhi and insulted Sonia Gandhi by saying one can't trust the “son of a foreigner”. The tweet which has since been taken down, the BJP leader on Saturday morning said, “a foreign woman’s offspring can never think of national interest”.

The BJP leader, however, refused to apologise after making the shocking comments about Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi has often been attacked for his lineage and this isn’t the first time that BJP leaders have attacked him for it.  Off late, the BJP has made allegations on Rahul Gandhi for spreading lies about the Rafale deal controversy. Congress has demanded a court-monitored Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation in the Rafale deal to procure 36 fighter jets from France. After defeat in MP, former BJP minister gives open threat, says ‘Ones who didn’t vote for me will cry’ – WATCH

Other than price escalation in a few years, Congress has alleged foul-play in the selection of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Defence as an Indian offset partner for Rafale manufacturer Dassault.

Earlier, Finance Minister told Gandhi there is no need to doubt the “decision-making process” of the government. Jaitley accused the Congress president of lying over the deal, saying, falsehood has a very short life. Jailtey’s comments came in the backdrop of SC rejecting pleas seeking a court-monitored probe in the Rs 58,000 crore inter-governmental deal.

It is interesting to note that the Congress president was targeted after Raj Babbar compared the falling value of the Indian Rupee with the age of Modi’s mother. Responding to the shocking comments, PM Modi said the Congress does not have issues to target the government and is therefore attacking his nonagenarian mother. He compared the Congress leader’s comments to those used in quarrels in bylanes.
