New Delhi: An Air India-Alliance flight, flying from Delhi to Jaipur, returned to Delhi airport after a full emergency was declared in the aircraft on Monday evening.

As per officials, a technical problem in the landing gear of the aircraft forced the flight to carry out an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

All 59 passengers on the Air India –Alliance flight 9X 643 were safe during the incident and had been evacuated from the flight, Dhananjay Kumar, Air India spokesperson said.

Reports suggested that the passengers and crew members had to be evacuated through the emergency doors.

The flight had taken off from the Delhi airport at around 8:13 pm this evening, and had to return to the airport to make an emergency landing at around 8:25 pm, officials said.

The Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) informed at around 8:21 pm that full emergency had been declared for the Delho-Jaipur Alliance Air flight. At 8:34 pm, the AOCC informed that the flight had safely landed at the airport.

As a safety measure, fire tenders were rushed to the spot following the flight's emergency landing.

Alliance Air is an Indian regional airline, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India.

Last week, an Air India flight had to abort the landing after dogs were sighted on the runway at Dabolim airport in Goa.

Speaking on this, the Indian Navy, which is in-charge at INS Hansa said, "Air India flight AI 033 from Mumbai while landing in Dabolim (Goa) around 3 am on August 13 reported to ATC about dogs on the runway and going around. The aircraft was recovered safely in 2nd approach. Being night hours, no dogs were sighted by ATC (Air Traffic Controller) and runway controller."

The statement had further read, "INS Hansa (near Dabolim) has taken proactive measures to reduce dog menace on the runway with the employment of manpower during daylight hours adjacent to the runway to chase away dogs/birds."
