Jharkhand: Bus plunges into gorge in Garhwa; 6 dead, 39 injured

Bus accident in Jharkhand: Authorities had commenced with the rescue operations after a bus fell into a gorge in Garhwa.

Garhwa: In a tragic incident, six people were killed and at least 39 people were injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Garhwa in Jharkhand on Tuesday.

Rescue operations by authorities were underway. 

As per reports, 12 people were still believed to be trapped in the bus. 

The incident reportedly occurred at 2 am on Tuesday when the bus was on its way to Garhwa from Chattisgarh. The vehicle is said to have crashed into the wall guard, following which the bus fell into a deep gorge and turned turtle. 

Local villagers were the first ones to rush to the site and began helping out the passengers. They were joined by the police in their rescue efforts soon after, reports said. 

Earlier this month, on June 10, a Patna-bound bus had hot an iron-laden stationary trailer-truck on NH-2 in Hazaribagh district f Jharkhand. Eleven people, including three women and a child, were killed in the accident while 22 others were injured. 

The Hazaribagh accident had taken place near Danua-Bhania area which falls under Chouparan Police Station Limits after the bus rammed into the trailer-truck from behind.
