Railways resume limited services: Train schedules between Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikkode, Ernakulum

Special trains to Kerala: Indian Railways will be running six Rajadhani trains between New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram every week. Kozhikkode and Ernakulum are the two stations in Kerala in the Konkan route.

The Indian Railways is set to resume passenger operations on a limited scale from Tuesday, May 12. The sales of tickets will begin from 4 pm on Monday, May 11. Passenger trains will run to 15 destinations, 50 days after train services were stopped due to the nationwide lockdown that began on March 25. Only freight and special parcel trains were allowed to operate to transport the essential items across the country. Shramik Special trains started from May 1 for migrant workers, students, pilgrims and tourists stranded in several parts of the country.

The trains between New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram will stop only at Kozhikkode and Ernakulum stations in Kerala. 

From New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram, trains will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. From Thiruvananthapuram to New Delhi, the frequency of trains is on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Tatkal, premium tatkal and current reservation facilities will not be available in these trains. Ticket booking counters at railway stations will remain closed. Only passengers whose tickets are confirmed will be allowed to enter railway stations. They will have to wear face masks and undergo screening procedures. Only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to travel.

As many as 52 passengers will be allowed in AC three-tier coaches, while in AC two-tier coaches, 48 passengers will be allowed in order to follow the protocol of social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Railway Ministry's Executive Director, Media, Rajesh Dutt Bajpai, said in a statement. 

Passengers will have to pay the fare for Rajdhani trains. AC coaches will not get blankets or bedsheets.
